Stream Access: Know Before You Go

22 May 2023 9:49 AM | Jim Kazakoff (Administrator)

Public access to streams in Idaho for recreation and angling is relatively open and protected by Idaho law, providing anglers many opportunities for enjoying our fly fishing sport.  However access laws to the streams vary by state.  If you are planning a trip to another state, you should be aware of the access restrictions and rules for that area.  Many are more restrictive than what you are familiar with in Idaho.

Outdoor Hunters & Anglers has published (2017) a useful report on access issues, and summary of access laws state by state.  You can access that report HERE.
