Stayner Ducktail

Hook: Mustad size 10 (2x)
Body: 3 peacock herls
Rib: Silver Round Tinsel
Tail/Beard: Red Hackle Fibers
Wing: Wood Duck Fibers

Start by wrapping the hook shank with thread till you reach the point above the barb, and then tie in group of red hackle fibers for the tail (should be the length of the hook shank). Tie in some silver round tinsel and the peacock herls. Wind the herls forward till you reach the 3/4 mark and tie off. Now wind the tinsel forward in the opposite direction that the herls were wrapped. After tying off the ribbing material tie in a few more hackle fibers for the beard on the bottom of the hook shank. On the top of the hook shank tie in the wood duck fibers so that they lay flat over the body and the tail. make sure to cut the wing tip to give it flat edge ( see above picture ). From a small head whip finish and cement.
